Mildred Arons Friedman (1905-1993) was born in Homestead, Pa. to Harry Arons (1878-1968) and Dora Siegel (1885-1963). Her family moved to the East End of Pittsburgh in the late 1910s or early 1920s. Mildred Arons graduated from Peabody High School in January 1924 and married Nate Friedman in 1937.
Harry Arons was an early member of B’nai Israel Congregation and served as the president of the B’nai Israel Cemetery. He was also a member of the East Liberty Chamber of Commerce and the local chapter of the Zionist Organization of America, and he sat on the board of the Jewish Home and Hospital for the Aged.
